EMPLOYMENT
1/1995 - Present: High School Teacher, Paul VI High School, Fairfax, VA. Developed and taught Senior Elective Religion Courses: Death & Dying, World Religions, Salesian Spirituality. Taught Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, 20th Century American History U.S. and Virginia History. Taught all religion courses and Western Civilization in Summer School. Helped to develop and supervise a pilot program for teen participation in the Hospice of Northern Virginia’s new Life Tapestries program. Moderator of Key and Salesian Leadership Clubs, SADD, co-moderator of Literary Magazine, Amnesty International Club. Led Phone-a-thon summer and fall 1999, raising over $300,000.00 for new sports facility. Chaperoned dances, retreats and student activities.

8/1985-6/1994: Junior High Teacher, Queen of Apostles School, Alexandria, VA. Taught Religion, Social Studies, Reading, English and Science, grades 5-8. Served as coordinator for Junior High Program, Assistant Principal 1991-1993. Coached Girls soccer, cheerleading, moderator for Student Government Association and Model U.N. Club. Served as Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Self-Study and Chairman of the follow-up Committee.
8/1984-6/1985: Junior High School Teacher, Holy Redeemer School, Northeast Washington, D.C. Taught 6th and 7th grade Religion, History and Science.
8/1982-8/1984: Youth and Family Minister for Holy Apostles Church, Colorado Springs, CO. Served as Director of Religious Education for Junior and Senior High School Students, recruited and trained volunteers, served as principal for junior and senior high school program, provided counseling to teens and families, served as member of parish team to develop parish education, liturgical and ministry programs. Edited youth newsletter.
8/1980-1982: Foster Parent for Kemp Mill Specialized Group Foster Home for Abused Teenagers, Silver Spring , MD. Served as houseparent and counselor for six teenage boys, ages 14-18 providing 24 hour supervision, life skills training, supervised and trained part-time counseling staff, provided remedial education in Reading, English, History, Science and Math, provided group and individual counseling, developed and monitored budget, provided progress reports to the Montgomery County Department of Social Services.
8/1979-6/1980: Junior High School Teacher, St. Frances de Sales School, Southeast Washington, D.C. Taught 6th and 7th grade Religion, History and Science.
1/1977-8/1979: Assistant Research Librarian, University Research Corporation, Chevy Chase, MD. Performed routine library duties , literature searches, cataloging of books, magazines and films, checking in and out materials, developing business and vertical files, maintaining card catalogue.
8/1974-12/76: Teacher , Our Lady of Grace School, Castro Valley, CA. Taught Religion and Art in all grades, 4th grade - all subjects, 7th & 8th Grade History, Religion, Art, Science and Reading. School Religion Coordinator. Served as Chairperson for self-study. Moderator of Student Government, coached Cheerleading. Director of parish high school Religious Education Program, recruited and trained staff, Member of diocesan high school retreat board. (Left religious order in December 1976)
6/1973-8/1974: Canonical Year of Novitiate, Carmelite Sisters of Charity, San Jose, CA. Year of study and prayer.
8/1971-6/1973: Director of Religious Education, St. John Vianney Parish, San Jose, CA . Director of Religious Education K-adult. Recruited and trained volunteer staff of forty. Developed Sacramental preparation program with parent involvement. Provided sacramental preparation for adults and adult convert training.
6/1967-5/1971: Graphic artist & assistant supervisor for Graphic Arts Department, Group Headquarters Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, Washington, D.C. (now Verizon Telephone Company). Did statistical drafting, lettering, created graphic arts materials, brochures, posters, verified work of others, trained new staff.
